Douglas Crawforth

Artist Bio

Doug Crawforth is a native of California who moved to New Mexico in 1976.  He now makes his home in the Sandia Mountains with his wife and two children.  Doug has developed a lifelong love of fine woods and wood working, creating an art form of hand turned decorative vessels.  Each piece is finely crafted and finished to enhance the color and grain of the woods.  Doug has created many of his own tools to make each piece as delicate (hollow) as possible.

Care of your vessel:  Each vessel has been finished with tung oil varnish to seal the wood and hand rubbed to bring out the rich colors.  This can be maintained by buffing the wood with a soft cotton cloth.  The vessel is made of natural colored wood (some contain dyed veneers) which will change over time.  Some woods will darken and others will lighten because of ultraviolet light exposure.  Direct sun will damage any fine woodworking in time.  Therefore, keep your vessel from direct sun exposure, as well as close proximity to heating and air conditioning vents.
